GPS Coordinates: 41.228942, -8.270867

Located in Penafiel, a 35mins drive from Porto, Quinta da Eira is a beautiful working farm, a magical place, with animals, vineyards, and full of laughter!

Distant from the hustle and bustle of the city, it’s countryside character lends an idyllic feel to our day.

Quinta da Eira is a genuine rustic venue, perfect for our Portuguese – Scottish wedding… Now lets just hope it won’t rain.

Once inside, follow signs to “Celerio”, which is Portuguese for barn.

Transport

A bus will be picking up our guests from Palácio da Bolsa, Rua Ferreira Borges, at  13:15 for 13:30.

Here is a link to Google Map. The bus will be departing, right outside the Palace in front of  the green space with the monument (if you go to street view there is a bus in the exact pick up location).

A VW camper van will depart from the venue at midnight, for those who would like to have an “early night”.

There will also be a bus departing at 02:00 and for those who like to dance into the later hours, at 03:15.

The night owls can always get a cab for €50 and stay as long as they’d like.

Ceremony

We’re having a Humanist ceremony. Humanists believe in making the world a better place for all and in contributing in the way that best suits their personalities.

The ceremony will be reflective of our relationship and involve our close friends and family. It’s a  personalised way for non religious couples to celebrate a key event in their lives with those that are close to them.

It will be mainly in English but there will be an in depth order of service available in both languages.

Food & Drink

True to the Portuguese tradition, there will be plenty of food and beverages available.

It’s an open bar, and you can party as long as you like (seriously), but take it easy so you can enjoy it for longer!

After the ceremony, the party starts with a buffet, with traditional Portuguese dishes, grilled meat, seafood and sushi, ready for grabs. Yum!

The reception room opens at 17:45 and dinner will be server after the speeches – hopefully this won’t cause anyone indigestion.

Entre: Fish soup with vegetables
Mains: Roast pork loin, served with chestnuts, roast potatoes and vegetable gratin
Dessert Pear cumble serverd with vanilla ice cream
After: Homemade sweets, laminated fruit and cheeses

An evening meal of Caldo Verde soup and chorizo bread will also be served at 01:00.

And to make sure no one goes hungry, there’s an all night cheese and dessert table!

Note that a vegetarian/vegan meal will be available and also a kids meal of spaghetti & meatballs with sauce on the side.

Attire

Wear something that makes you feel amazing!

That awesome outfit you have been saving for a special occasion, that long dress you feel is too much, that skirt that might be a tiny bit too short and you secretly love… Honestly, just have fun.

Kilts are encouraged.

Oh, and please remember to bring a jacket. Weather allowing, there will be some outdoors dancing in the late hours.
